New Years Resolutions for Your Business

The new year is here! As an entrepreneur, this is a great time to step back, set new goals and plan for the year ahead. Just as one might set personal health or wellness resolutions, thinking about the resolutions that benefit the health and wellness of your business is equally important. Setting resolutions may be a daunting task to some but fear not, these resolutions can be big or small and can be done at any time of the year.

1. Clean up your place of business

Cluttered desks, messy stock room, disorganized shop? These are all things that interrupt the productivity and efficiency of our business. Plan an officewide cleanup and get rid of the clutter. Ensuring the workplace and workspaces are clean and organized helps foster a productive work environment.

2. Get up to speed on online marketing

Online presence is an integral piece of a business’s marketing strategy. Making sure your website is current and accessible to clients is important to promote your brand. Ensuring social accounts are updated and active to encourage engagement from clients and customers. If you aren’t already utilizing social media, this would be a great time to connect.

3. Plan ahead

Being an entrepreneur can be stressful. With a million things on your mind, it can be easy to lose track of what needs to get done and when.  Get into the habit of planning your day ahead of time. Create a to-do list for the next day before you leave. This will allow you to be ready for the day ahead and improve efficiency.

4. Tune up your business plan

Your business plan is the roadmap for the company to reach its long-term and short-term goals. Examine your business plan and determine if there are any changes that should be made. Consider changes in your market, changes in your financial situation or any important developments in your business.

5. Use more technology in your business

Technology is an important tool for your business. Ensuring you are using programs that are appropriate to the needs of your business can help improve productivity, increase innovation, and improve profits.

6. Create a positive work environment

Creating a positive atmosphere for employees where they feel appreciated and important can yield many benefits to the success of your business.  Hosting company events, providing opportunities for career advancement and providing employees with services and resources for mental health are all great ways to offer a safe and welcoming space for all.
